The Lorax

Modern-day Thneedville is a symbol of capitalism, leading it to be an explosion of color, pattern, and distorted proportion. Beyond the city we see the decaying, desolate landscape that used to be the Tuffula forest. When we go back in time to Thneedville before the invention of the thneed, we see that Thneedville used to be a very organic, natural place; full of clothing that was mindful and respectful of the environment around it; utilizing organic fibers and soft silhouettes. The Truffula Forest, where we meet the Lorax, is very wholesome, natural, and child-like. With the invention of the thneed, we see the introduction of color to Thneedville and can begin to see how fashion had evolved in the community over time. Overall, the production places a high emphasis on color, pattern, and maintaining a storybook appearance while being an appropriate adaption for the stage.
